Requirements / organisational issues
This lecture provides an insight into the synpotic and mesoscale dynamics of mid-latitude weather systems. The goals are:(i) provide basics and different perspectives on mid-laitude weather systems;
(ii) discuss specific dynamical phenomena of the mid-latitudes;
(iii) analyse cyclones using python and reanalysis data.
The lecture builds upon concepts which have been introduced in the introductory lecture as well as in the basic dynamic and synoptic lectures. A basic understanding of python is helpful.

Aktive Teilnahme/Active participation in the computer labs is the prerequisite to pass the course.Digital teaching
The lecture will take place at IPA, a hybrid component can be offered if necessary. The computer lab will be in person only at IPA.Recommended reading list
